Best Remodeling Brands

When performing a bathroom, kitchen, or full interior remodel, I’m frequently asked by my clients what are the best remodeling brands?  With over 44 years in the remodeling business, I’ve had the opportunity to experience thousands of products. Before I answer the question, it’s important to gain an appreciation for why I like the products below.  It’s also important to understand that these are my own opinions. These opinions are based on over four decades of hands on experience. I also use the below manufactures’ products in my own home and in the homes of my family members.  Yes, I trust them for their quality, durability, and performance.

So, why do I like the below manufactures and the products they make?  Four words: quality, durability, price, and warranty. Because quality products cost more to purchase, some folks think that means they cost more.  What? OK, so that sounds a bit confusing. Let me explain. Although manufacturer A may charge $10.00 for their product and manufacturer B $15.00, the real question is:  What is the overall cost of their products? For example: For small bathrooms, I like to use the Panasonic 110 CFM exhaust fan at about $130. I could use a Nu-Tone 110 CFM at about $120.  Why pay $10 or about 8% more? Here’s why:

As you can see, for about $10 more, you get twice the warranty, a fan that is 70% quieter, and completely Title 24 compliant (required in California).  I can also testify that the 3 Panasonic fans in my house have performed exceptionally with no increase in noise level and continue to perform flawlessly for now over 20 years (and that’s with 4 kids!).  I can’t say that about the Nu-Tone. Is all this important? Absolutely! Without a properly working fan, mold and mildew can destroy your bathroom (possibly your house), make your family sick, be expensive to replace after the remodel is complete, and nasty smells linger.  Without question, the fan with the lowest overall cost is the Panasonic. Don’t be fooled by price alone.
