Orange county is home to 3,198,000 people, 1,885,664 vehicles, and over 1,200,000 housing units across 948 square miles. Together, these generate more than 4 million tons (over 8 billion pounds) of solid waste each year.
Orange County Waste & Recycling is the agency that serves the County’s 34 cities and their solid waste disposal needs. They operate or manage the operations for all Orange County landfill’s, waste haulers, hazardous waste, and environmental programs. With almost 22 million pounds of trash generated each day, it’s a monumental task.
The agency has earned many awards for their modern management techniques, regulatory compliance, and environmental practices.
In summary, OC Waste and Recycling provides the following services:
Through their Renewable Energy Program, they produce 380,000 megawatt-hours of electricity annually by reusing landfill gas through power-generation partnerships.
Recycling is a very important mission for the agency. The counties 3 landfills are at least 10-47 years from reaching capacity. Currently, it is estimated that the Olinda Alpha will reach capacity in 2031, Frank R. Bowerman in 2053, and the Prima Deshecha in 2067. However, with population growing at around 5% yearly, without a sustainable and well managed recycling program, these estimates will quickly diminish.
DAD’s Construction has a strong commitment towards responsible bathroom, kitchen, and interior remodeling. Substantially all of our demolition is recycled. We use sustainable and energy star products. DAD’s is an EPA registered and certified lead safe renovator.
