Rough Estimate to Remodel a Kitchen or BathroomDAD’s has a simple philosophy when providing a rough estimate to remodel – Always be honest and up-front with the customer and never pretend a project is something that it isn’t. We never provide an estimate containing low quality, substandard, and poor performing materials.  DAD’s estimates contain high quality products and installation methods. We do not provide estimates using “best case scenarios” or meaningless “allowances”. In my better than 45 years of renovating & remodeling, I have never seen or heard of anyone actually performing a project under these circumstances and be happy.

Many contractors have no problem providing you with unrealistic estimates, allowances, and bait-and-switch tactics.  After the project is well under way, the Change Order process is used to jack-up the price.  This price change is usually way up from the initial estimate.

Rough estimates provided by DAD’s reflect projects performed over the most recent 2 years.  It is a rolling average.  Therefore, it changes monthly based on the projects DAD’s completes.  DAD’s estimates include all materials, parts, labor, installation, and sales tax mid-range, not at the bottom. DAD’s estimates reflect reality and what people did and are doing using high quality and durable products, materials, and people. DAD’s estimates illustrate pricing of materials and labor across economies including building code changes. The future economic and regulatory environment is unknown.  Using the most recent 2 years of activity is usually a reasonably good indicator for estimating purposes.
